We made our city sparkle!
Check out the some photos from the 2024 Spring Clean
As you scroll through the photos from last year, you'll see that there was a HEAP of people involved, including folk from Live Life Disability Support Day Services, Downtown Backpackers, Open Home Ready, Nelson Environment Centre, Boffa Miskell, RMM Landscape Architects, Arthouse Architects, Magenta Creative, VenueTech, Thompson Property Group, Nikau Hauora Hub, Bett Apartment Residents, Nelson City Council, Nelson Provincial Museum, The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū, our amazing ‘Angel Gardeners' and some incredible volunteers.
We're excited to be doing it again in 2025!

Angel Gardening
Our glorious gardeners are back in 2025. First stop, the bus stop! After putting these plants in during last year's Spring Clean, it was time for a trim and tidy. Then then gave some gardening love to the planter boxes at the top of Bridge St.

It's been nearly five years since we installed the ArtWalk, so they needed a little clean. Toni, Will, Sue, Dru and Brian from The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū set to work - it's not often they get to clean a painting with a mop! Stay tuned for more cleaning of the ArtWalk series.
ArtWorks
In 2024, NEL cleaned their electrical boxes, and then throughout 2025, we commissioned some artists to transform them. Click here for more info on the ArtWoks projetc, including the NEL boxes.

In 2024, at Red Art Gallery & Cafe, Suzy planted vibrant spring flowers and installed a free little library for everyone to enjoy. And then all the tennentsf the ArtHouse building got together to give the laneway a makeover, complete with a Richard Seller'e artwork.

In 2024, Boffa Miskell took on a neglected pocket park in Buxton Square. Within an hour they'd removed all the rubbish, trimmed the grass and planted perennials around the tree and along the edges. Read about here in the Nelson Mail.

In 2024, the team from RMM Landscape Architects pitched in and took over the garden on Halifax St, by the old petrol station. They planted lots of edibles - it was fun seeing those artichokes reach for the sky!

In 2024 our glorious gardeners left little plantings across the city!
