You can see more of Marilyn’s work on her website.

Marilyn is a full time professional artist working from her home studio and gallery beside the Brook Stream, five minutes from Nelson city centre. She is primarily a landscape artist creating vibrant images from her environment.

“I enjoy the vibrancy of colour, and landscapes are a wonderful excuse to play with shapes, colours and textures on the canvas surface. It’s the juxtaposition and resonance of colour that I really enjoy light and vibration.

I am influenced by many artists including Munter, Monet, Kandinsky, Klimt, Lusk and Woollaston. Each artist has taken me through experimental paths of exploration.”

Marilyn Andrews

Marilyn exhibits frequently and has work in collections around the world. She is often inspired by her travels, by different cultures, and the effect humans have on the landscape and environment. Her works sometimes avoid any reference to human habitation and looks for nature in its purist sense, while at other times she enjoys the interaction. Marilyn often mixes geometric construction with the organic to create tension and visual interest within the composition.

Marilyn also loves painting commissions. It’s worth having a look at her commissions page to see this truly impressive selection of works that are now loved and enjoyed in people’s homes.
