Every month, Voice Collective get together for a few hours to rehearse a song, and then do a once-only performance.
This month, it’s Dolly Parton’s ‘Joelene’. Nelson Arts Festival has links to the song, lyrics and karaoke version!
Voice Collective is a pop-up contemporary singing group where there are no auditions, commitment or rules apart from a focus on Manaakitanga values of integrity, trust, sincerity and equity. Founded by local musicians Tanya Nock and Ryan Beehre, Voice Collective is based at Bridge Street Studios and welcome male and female singers from 14 to 114.
Each month, the song is posted on their Facebook page or emailed out a few days before. Then it’s just a case of coming along, learning the song from 6.30 – 7.30pm, and then performing the song, singing your heart out, and releasing those endorphins!
