A reciprocal relationship and slogan that came from a group exhibition at Refinery ArtSpace, Kai I ngā Ora, which was a response to the housing crisis.

Koha ngā reo
The act of gifting, To gift languages, a breakdown of the word Kohanga Reo, which is likened to A Maori Early Childcare education centre that came about as a means and way to revitalise te Reo Maori.

Manawa Tu, Manawa Ora
The areas of the heart and affection. 
Tu can be translated as Stand, making a Stand and Ora translates as, to live, living.

Samara Davis is a multi-media artist based in Whakatū who pushes the envelope of tradition in her work, exploring themes of identity, biculturalism, colonisation, connection and disconnection. Her intricately made objects present the marae and the whāriki (woven mat) as places for connection, understanding and the sharing of knowledge. 

Magenta Creative Space is a free, drop-in, fully resourced arts studio for people with lived experience of mental distress, no referral is required. They have a retail outlet and exhibition space – it’s well with a visit.
