Project: ArtWash!

It’s not often we get to clean a painting with a mop!

ArtWalk has been up for nearly five years, so the artworks needed a bit of a refresh.

This was done across a week, first with staff and volunteers from the Suter Art Gallery cleaning all the ones at street level, and then, with the help of some scaffolding from Speedy Signs Nelson, there was a combined effort to clean the Bill Hammond on Halifax St, with Speedy Signs getting the top bits, and the staff from the Suter cleaning the reachable bits.

Big thanks to Fermin and the team from Speedy Signs Nelson, and to Toni MacKinnon, Will Murphy and Annie Watson from the Suter, as well as their fabbo volunteers Sue Hamilton, Dru Mason and Brian Nelson.

You can see the ArtWalk map here, which has links to all the artworks with loads of background information on the artists.

Speedy Signs Nelson have been with us throughout the entire Nelson City ArtWalk, as well as installing all the Tasman ArtWalk in Richmond, Motueka, Takaka and Murchison.
